A highly unusual high-end preamplifier built around a resistance-free signal path...
Introducing the Miyajima WO-1
—
The WO-1 is Miyajima’s high-end preamplifier, developed around the idea that the music signal should avoid resistance as far as possible. Rather than using a conventional resistive volume control, the WO-1 adjusts volume by changing the gain of the amplifier itself. Miyajima say this concept was first completed in 1999 and further improved by 2014.
The phono equaliser section uses power tubes, offers large allowable input and low impedance, and is described by Miyajima as amplifying without distortion and without relying on negative feedback. The front-panel meter is used to manage precise operation of the relevant vacuum tube stage.

Our philosophy is to skillfully build superior audio components that will reproduce recorded sound so faithfully, that the artists personality and the emotions in their music are perfectly expressed to the listener. Exceptionally fine audio components will result when music can be reproduced with accuracy and without distortion. When matching theory and musicality, good products are created. We at Miyajima laboratory believe that although we are small, our dedication to the fine details allow us to build the very finest sounding components – ones that will bring you joy every time you to listen to music.
