All Horn Speaker System

Introduction.

Feel the wind

The sound moves the air and is transmitted to our bodies. A daily natural phenomenon that flows without consciousness. In order to deliver sound to their ears more efficiently, ancient people learned from nature and invented a technology called "horn". The idea was used in megaphones and musical instruments, and later applied to audio speakers. COCO is a speaker that uses horn technology in all ranges. It is a rare and classic style for modern products, but the natural sound feel is very soft and comfortable. Gentle, sometimes powerful, and the way the air moves actively is like a "wind". Why don't you listen to music to experience nature?

Characteristic

Design

I shaped the image of a horn floating lightly in the air. The shape, which consists of multiple polygons, gives the impression of a single "architecture" or "organism" woven by lines and surfaces. The tweeter horn, body, and stand, which are independent of the thin pillars, effectively control the vibration of the sound, and the excess vibration is flowed to the floor from the four points where the spike touches. All design choices are directly related to sound creation.

Handcraft

Handmade products that make use of traditional woodworking technology. All processes from wood metal processing, assembly, and painting are carried out in our own workshop. A "tool for playing music" that is born after listening to the sound of each material, selecting, and combining it into one. It may be close to an instrument.

Sound

A soft sound that spreads softly from the wood horn. Because it does not have a network (electronic circuit), the full-range unit on the main body produces a core sound as if it is directly connected to music, and the tweeter horn adds a graceful high note. Physical tuning is applied everywhere so that vibrations are smoothly converted into sound. A clear sound without any stress is the result of making the most of the resonance of nature.

Horn

The main body part consists of three types of horns: a "combination horn" with a front horn (all range) and a backload horn (bass), and the tweeter part consists of three types of horns: a multicellular horn (treble). Each horn is designed to have no parallel surfaces that are prone to unnecessary resonance sounds. The curved perforated metal net of the front horn, as an acoustic lens, further diffuses sound into space. The unique sound that is powerful but soft to the ear is the work of the horn.

Body

To match the modern lifestyle, we have compiled it into a speaker system with a relatively large size but moderate volume. The main body, which is shaped towards the rear, is suitable for corner installation in the room and is an ideal shape for creating a horn about 2 meters long folded inside. The paulownia body is lighter than it looks, and it is easy to transport and move.

Material

All materials are carefully selected with sound, durability, and beauty in mind. For wood, solid paulownia wood is used as the main body, and solid oak wood is used for stand and tweeter horn. The paulownia wood is processed with firing paulownia and cement finish to moderately suppress the resonance, resulting in a three-dimensional and crafty texture. We also take into account details such as the camfering of wood parts and the expression of metal parts. In addition, natural materials such as linen and cotton from Shiga are used for sound-absorbing materials.

Parts

The selection of electrical parts that are the source of sound is an important factor in the sound production of speakers. The driver unit of the main body, which can be said to be the core, is based on the full-range unit of Audax in France, and the magnetic circuit is greatly strengthened by the neodymium magnet, and the braking horn sound is obtained. The network components of the tweeter are Mundorf coils and capacitors made in Germany, and speaker cables made by van den Hul in the Netherlands are used for the internal wiring to ensure that the purity of the signal is not damaged.

Hora Audio aims to enrich people's lives through music by providing high-quality, handcrafted audio products to our customers. Hora Audio's workshop is located in a rural village in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, surrounded by lakes and mountains. Our products are entirely handcrafted by our founder, Ryo Aoyanagi, who personally handles every step of the process, including woodworking, metalworking, and painting. While production is limited, we focus on craftsmanship that embodies a unique "resonance" and "presence" not found in mass-produced items—creating products supported by human hands and heart. The workshop is housed in the dirt-floor area of a 150-year-old farmhouse. Seeing the sturdy beams and pillars, still supporting the workspace today, reminds us of the craftsmanship of the artisans who built them—it feels as if they are our "teachers" in making things. As we work, we sometimes wonder, "What kind of sound will this speaker produce 150 years from now?"
